My name is Tori and I’m about to start my senior semester of college in Oklahoma. I’ve lived all over central and southern U.S., but Oklahoma City has my heart. I’m studying public relations, but politics is one of my passions. I’d love to have a career in political communications someday.
Another passion of mine is encouraging women to pursue careers in public office or other leadership roles. I’ve had the privilege of attending multiple women’s leadership conferences. I learn something new and meet the most amazing women every time– they never get old.
I didn’t become interested in politics until my sophomore year of college. I’ve only followed politics for a few years now, and there are a lot of issues that I don’t know a lot about or don’t really have an opinion on. My lack of experience has always prohibited me from sharing my thoughts about issues. I’ve always been afraid that someone who knows more about an issue than me will point out a major flaw in my argument that I’ve somehow missed.
However, after a few years of sitting quietly on the sidelines and learning as much as I can, I’m ready to express my opinions that are over 140 characters. To be honest, I don’t have an opinion of every issue. I think people are more likely to listen when your opinions are scarce, valuable and well articulated and thought-out. The opinions you’ll see on this blog are opinions I have contemplated for a while.
I hope you find something on my blog that you agree with and something you disagree with. Challenge your beliefs and have reasoning behind your stance. Try to view an issue from multiple sides before deciding your opinion. And always remember: principles over party.
Some fun facts about me:
- I’m a sixth-generation Oklahoman and a third-generation student at my private Christian college.
- I really love iced coffee, gourmet popcorn and pineapple on pizza.
- I’m definitely a cat person, but I absolutely love basset hounds and plan on adopting one at some point.
- Josh Earnest, President Obama’s press secretary, once Tweeted me career advice.
